The Assistant Director overseeing Early Childhood Special Education will serve as the district's primary leader for all processes related to Child Find, eligibilitydetermination, and IEP implementation for our youngest learners partnering closely with the districts Early Childhood EducationCoordinator, families, community agencies, and the broader educational team to ensure every child receives the support they deserve.Key Responsibilities: IEP Process Leadership - Collaboration & Community Partnerships - Relationship Building & Communication - Professional Growth Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesDeep knowledge of current research, theory, and evidence-based pedagogy related to the education of preschool-age studentswith disabilities Partner with the Early Childhood Education Coordinator to keep abreast of district programs and ECE initiatives Thorough understanding of special education law and regulations, including IDEA, Maine Special Education Regulations,and Child Find obligations Familiarity with a broad range of intervention strategies and service delivery models appropriate for students ages 35 withdiverse learning needs Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with the Early Childhood Education Coordinator, administrators, educators,specialists, multilingual educators, and families in a team-oriented environment Strong organizational skills with the ability to design and implement compliance monitoring systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal requirements clearly andempathetically to diverse audiences Ability to exercise sound professional judgment while handling confidential and sensitive student and family information Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice
