Recreation Assistant (Part-Time, Every Other Weekend)

Job Type: Part-Time (8 hours every other weekend)
Schedule: Every other Saturday and Sunday
Wilton Meadows Health Care Center is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Recreation Assistant to join our Activities Department. This part-time position works every other weekend, helping provide engaging recreational programs that enhance the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of our residents. The ideal candidate enjoys working with seniors and is committed to creating a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment.
This position will assist in the activity programs. Recreation Assistant will float between our long-term and memory care units. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Possess a High School Diploma.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrate integrity, initiative, good judgement, compassion, creativity, adaptability, sensitivity and professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Makes all programs and experiences about the resident and maintain a resident focused outlook in your daily assignments.
- Encourage and motivate resident participation in recreational programs.
- Works as a team member throughout the facility on a daily basis.
- Keep up activities assessments and implement approaches provided in resident care Assume the responsibility and accountability of Activity Aide.
- Implement activities with other departments as necessary.
- Maintaining an open line of communication with Recreation department.
Personnel Functions.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
- Encourage resident self-esteem by visiting and conversing with residents on a regular basis.
- Assist bed residents by visiting with them, writing letters, etc., as necessary.
- Encourage residents to develop their educational development through reading, etc.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
