Founded in 2014, The Local Deli has carved out a name for itself with fresh, made-to-order, healthy food and excellent customer service. Our sandwiches are the heart of our business, and every sandwich starts with our fresh-baked bread, which is baked in-house, daily.
This position combines three parts of our kitchen into one schedule, so no two shifts look quite the same. If you like variety, early mornings, and finishing the day knowing exactly what you accomplished, this is a good fit.
Your week
- Bread baking — 1 to 2 shifts per week
- Kitchen prep and dessert baking — 1 to 2 shifts per week
- Slicing — 1 shift per week
That's 3 to 4 shifts per week, roughly 16 to 24 hours, with the potential for more shifts if you want them. This position can also be combined with other positions to lengthen your shifts if needed.
What you'll do
- Baking. Bake fresh bread for both of our shops and keep the baking area clean and stocked. Baking shifts run 6 to 8 hours.
- Prep and desserts. Prepare deli salads, bake desserts, and follow our recipes and portion specifications exactly, every time.
- Slicing. Slice meats and cheeses to spec, label and date everything, and rotate stock properly.
- Everything else. Follow food safety guidelines, keep your workspace organized, store food correctly, and operate kitchen equipment safely.
What we're looking for
- Reliability. Bake shifts start promptly at 6:00 AM. Prep shifts start at 7:00 AM. Showing up on time, every time, matters more here than anything on your résumé.
- Attention to detail. Baking is following a formula exactly. Slicing is holding a spec. Both reward people who care about getting it right.
- Multitasking. This role is efficient, self-motivated, and comfortable juggling several things at once.
- A good attitude. We're a small crew and we work shoulder to shoulder. Friendly and service-oriented goes a long way.
- Experience. Kitchen or bakery experience is appreciated, but we are willing to train the right person.
Requirements

- Idaho food handler permit — if you don't have one, we'll show you where to get it
Pay and benefits
- $18.00 – $19.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Employee discount
- Flexible schedule
- Paid training
How hiring works here
