<Overview>
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller & Coder with a focus on Gastroenterology and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in medical billing and coding, including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems. This role involves managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding for complex GI procedures, and supporting the revenue cycle to optimize practice efficiency.
<Duties>
- Review and accurately code medical records using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) systems for gastroenterology procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation of medical records to support billing and coding accuracy.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes to maximize reimbursement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, insurance policies, and compliance standards related to GI procedures and ASC services.
- Collaborate with physicians and administrative staff to clarify documentation requirements and resolve billing issues promptly.
- Assist in auditing billing practices to ensure compliance with federal regulations and internal policies.
<Experience>
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a gastroenterology or outpatient surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and the use of EMR/EHR systems.
- Experience with medical billing software and collections processes is highly desirable.
- Prior work in an ASC environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
- Strong organizational skills combined with effective communication abilities to coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
