The Medical Director (AMD) for Inpatient Rehabilitation Program provides strategic and operational medical leadership for the delivery of inpatient care in partnership with applicable Nursing leadership Clinical Director/Managers. Other important collaborations will include Patient/Family Experience, Quality/Patient Safety, Process Improvement, Clinical Effectiveness, Pharmacy and other relevant ancillary department leaders (such as respiratory therapy, nutrition, etc.), Specialty Specific Business Managers and Service Line Administrator, Section/Divisional leadership and the Medical Staff/Providers. The goal of the Medical Director is to collaborate to develop and maintain Inpatient Rehabilitation Care including the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and the Inpatient Rehabilitation Consultation Service operations which support CHCO mission and values in an organized, effective, innovative, and quality and service-oriented manner. The Medical Director will be a champion of the Quadruple Aim and of CHCO initiatives, specifically regarding quality and safety and patient and provider experience.
Scope of responsibility will include the delivery of evidence based, safe and effective clinical care, operational efficiency, business development, and delivery of outstanding patient and referring provider service. The Medical Director has primary responsibility for establishing accountability with physician providers regarding CHCO policies and procedures, operational standards, and quality and service excellence initiatives.
This Medical Director position includes a total of 0.20 FTE of protected effort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with nursing, operational, and physician leadership to oversee delivery of high-quality medical services within the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program.
- Develop and monitor clinical standards, provider performance metrics, staffing models, and quality/safety initiatives to support operational excellence and patient outcomes.
- Lead and support continuous quality improvement efforts, CARF accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance, and departmental case review activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient/family experience, resolve complaints, and enhance provider, patient, and referring physician satisfaction.
- Support provider, nursing, house staff, and medical student education, onboarding, communication, and performance management initiatives.
- Champion effective clinical documentation, EMR/EPIC optimization, medical record completion, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Contribute to fiscal stewardship and operational efficiency through staffing input, productivity improvement strategies, and participation in leadership committees and organizational initiatives.
