Summary:
Responsible for providing a wide array of career guidance services to Chickasaw Employment Access (CEA) participants and eligible Chickasaw citizens. Some of the services offered by the Career Advocacy Specialist I include but are not limited to; advocacy through the development of a professional resume portfolio, job application assistance, interview attire assistance, and mock interview skills that are consistent and in line with identified employment goals. This position works under close supervision, providing CEA participants with job readiness services in the most efficient and effective manner.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the Chickasaw Nation in a positive and exemplary manner at all times
- Maintain advanced knowledge of every program within the CEA division and stay informed of the unique needs and/or barriers faced by CEA participants
- Coordinate and communicate with CEA programs to provide job readiness services to CEA participants
- Meet regularly with participants to provide goal-directed career counseling and to encourage job search progress
- Assist participants with resume development, mock interview skills, job search, networking, and other employment services tailored to individual participant needs
- Advocate for participants by promoting the ePortfolio to internal and external hiring managers
- Assist CEA participants with the development of employment goals and steps to accomplish identified goals
- Provide realistic, professional interview coaching that is consistent with selected industry standards that provides participants with the necessary skills to “win” the professional interview
- Research job opportunities for a wide range of positions and identifies prospective employers and facilitates employment interviews for participants.
- Participate in ongoing training with professional grade photography and video equipment, as well as Adobe products to create video clips and ePortfolios for advocacy purposes.
- Assist eligible participants with the purchase of professional attire from the Atali store for job interviewing and assist with other supportive service needs as identified
- Monitor and maintain accurate, timely and detailed participant records within the Tribal Applications Internet Quorum (IQ) system
- Present resume development and career readiness workshops within the Chickasaw Nation service area
- Attend and assist with job fairs within the Chickasaw Nation service area
- Present classes (live and/or virtual) for participants on subjects related to pre-employment training and career planning.
- Submit weekly reports on participant activity and accomplishments, as well as program data.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings as scheduled
- Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
- Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
- Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
- Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
- Maintains and promotes professionalism
- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics

- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in business, counseling, education, social work, human resources, or related field preferred. Preferred: Experience 0 - 6 months Experience in counseling, career development, human resources, or employment services (training and job development) is desired.
