Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a primarily surgical unit with some medical-surgical patient care based on bed availability. The unit has 35 private patient rooms, two nurses' stations, a shift supervisor, and patient care technicians available each shift.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and surgical patients.
- Assess patient conditions and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
- Monitor patients and promptly report changes in condition.
- Perform post-operative and surgical patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow infection-control, safety, and hospital policies.
- Work effectively with patient care technicians and other nursing staff.
- Maintain a typical 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio on night shift.
- Participate in scheduled weekend coverage, generally every other weekend.
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license required.
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Med-Surg and/or surgical nursing experience required.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Night-shift availability required.
- Must be willing to work every other weekend as scheduled.
