Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily vehicle dispatch operations, ensuring timely delivery schedules and optimal route planning using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software.
- Oversee GPS and GIS tools to monitor fleet locations, improve routing efficiency, and respond swiftly to operational changes or emergencies.
- Manage internal communication channels, including multi-line phone systems and SyteLine, to facilitate clear information flow between drivers, clients, and other departments.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards during all dispatch activities while maintaining accurate data entry in logistics systems.
- Lead dispatch team members by providing training on transportation planning, freight handling, shipping & receiving procedures, and customer service best practices.
- Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for process improvements in road transportation operations and logistics workflows.
- Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing inquiries from drivers, customers, or vendors efficiently.
- In the event it's needed Dispatcher will also cover school bus routes.
Skills
- Proficiency in transportation management systems Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software.
- Strong knowledge of GPS technology, and road transportation operations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask using multi-line phone systems and data entry tools.
- Effective communication skills for internal coordination, customer service, and phone call management.
