- Swing Shift: 3:00 PM–2:00 AM (1 opening)
Job Description
We are seeking a QC Microbiology Technician to support Quality Control activities at a commercial cell therapy manufacturing facility in Frederick, MD. This role is responsible for performing microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, utility monitoring, and laboratory support activities in a GMP-regulated environment to ensure product quality and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform environmental monitoring (air, surface, personnel) in classified manufacturing areas.
- Conduct utility monitoring, including water sampling and testing.
- Perform microbiological testing and laboratory support activities.
- Receive, inspect, quarantine, and release microbiological media and laboratory supplies.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization following GMP and safety guidelines.
- Handle and coordinate disposal of biohazardous waste.
- Support validation, qualification, and commercial manufacturing activities.
- Accurately document testing results and laboratory activities in compliance with GMP and SOP requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality Control, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams.
- Perform additional laboratory duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree with 1+ year of Microbiology Laboratory or Environmental Monitoring experience OR
- High School Diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Environmental Monitoring in a GMP environment.
- Knowledge of microbiological techniques, aseptic practices, and cleanroom operations.
- Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and Quality Control procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologics, or cell therapy manufacturing.
- Experience with water testing, utility monitoring, and microbial growth promotion testing.
- Knowledge of laboratory validation and qualification activities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to gown for entry into cleanroom/aseptic manufacturing areas.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to pass a vision exam for visual inspection.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
