Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Operations Supervisor to lead field operations with a strong focus on safety, leadership and fleet management. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving performance, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring fleet reliability in a fast-paced rail environment.
You will work closely with the General Manager and have direct influence over team performance, safety culture, and day-to-day operational success. This position may occasionally require filling in for employee vacancies as operational needs arise. On-the-job training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and develop drivers and service technicians
- Drive a strong safety culture through audits, training, and real-time coaching
- Conduct safety meetings and ensure full compliance with OSHA and company policies
- Oversee fleet performance, including inspections, maintenance scheduling, and DOT compliance
- Ensure all vehicles are safe, fully stocked, and operationally ready
- Troubleshoot and coordinate preventive maintenance and minor repairs
- Manage daily operations, schedules, and service delivery across assigned rail yards
- Maintain working knowledge of routes, contractual and customer requirements
- Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning
- Track and complete all operational reporting (safety, fleet, inventory)
- Serve as a key point of contact for employees, management, and customers
What We’re Looking For
- Proven leadership experience supervising field teams
- Strong background in fleet management, transportation, or logistics
- Class A or B CDL (Prefered)
- 3+ years of commercial driving experience
- Working knowledge of safety programs, DOT/OSHA compliance
- Mechanically inclined with basic equipment knowledge
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead from the front in a hands-on environment
Physical & Work Environment
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Climb trucks and ladders; work on uneven terrain
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass drug screen, fitness exam, and background check
