Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop is looking for a Baker to prepare our delicious pies and cookies. Baker responsibilities include opening the bakery in the morning, preparing crusts and fillings, baking the pies and cookies. We will provide full training to the successful candidate in the form of an on-site training week.
Our Baker promotes the mission of Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop by providing excellent customer care, demonstrating product knowledge, maintaining product quality and store cleanliness while fulfilling shift duties with a positive attitude. Our Baker helps to maintain overall shop functioning by ensuring adequate, quality production and storage of all baked goods and their components.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for the Baker will be as follows:
- Open the bakery in the morning
- Perform a variety of baking duties according to established recipes. Assure product quality is maintained through compliance with all recipes
- Plan and execute production to satisfy product levels as established by the store manager. Complete production sheets and other records as required.
- Assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily baking activities
- Mix various ingredients to create crusts and fillings for pies
- Operate oven to ensure proper baking
- Work with bakery ownership regarding any new recipes, questions or inconsistencies/issues with product preparation or creation
- Recognize baked goods that do not meet quality standards as well as defective supplies/equipment and/or other unusual conditions and communicate these to the store Manager
- Clean kitchen equipment and tools after use
- Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of all knowledge, information, trade secrets, recipes and other proprietary information
Skills & Other Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Experience as a Baker or similar role is preferred but not required, full training will be provided
- Ability to read and follow recipes, as well as ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance procedures and manuals
- Some familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and ovens is a plus
- Understanding of food safety practices. A Food Handler certification will be required (we will pay for training and obtaining the certificate if the successful candidate does not already have the certification)
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment. Must have a positive attitude and be eager to learn
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
