Semi-monthly salary: The current rate for this position is $1,620.33. Individual(s) selected for this position may receive a higher rate based on a pay differential (e.g. shift, or time-of-service pay).
Job Location: This position is located at the Howerton State Office Building; 615 Howerton Court, Jefferson City, MO. All internal promotional applicants are encouraged to apply as there may be alternate office space available.

Why you’ll love this position This position is an entry-level programmatic position with room for growth within the Medicaid Program. The person in this position will work independently as part of a team performing Medicare Buy-in to pay Medicare premiums for eligible Medicaid participants. The right person for this position is self-motivated and can perform research and work independently.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Review system reports to determine Medicare eligibility, update MHD eligibility records to reflect Medicare entitlement, and refer cases to appropriate Medicare Unit staff.
- Review and respond to Medicare eligibility inquiries/issues from internal and external sources.
- Work closely with the Family Support Division regarding Medicaid eligibility.
- Research and process standard Buy-Ins from working a variety of unit reports, referring to any cases that require further research to the Benefit Program Specialists.
- Answer and respond to the Unit Agent phone line and email in a professional and accurate manner.
- Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to relay information to the Social Security Administration, Family Support Division, MHD providers and participants.
- Interpret regulations, policies and procedures of the Medicare program as it relates to MHD participants and convey information to others in an effective and professional manner.
- Crosstrain in duties and provide back-up to other staff as needed.
- Assist supervisor with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
Preferred Qualifications:
The person in this position should have the ability to work independently, be a team player, and have great time management skills. Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, Health Insurance, or Medical Billing a bonus. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. Good analytical skills with attention to detail.
