Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Office Patient Coordinator (Front Desk), where your energetic and compassionate approach will set the tone for exceptional patient experiences. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providers, and visitors, ensuring smooth clinic operations while maintaining a welcoming environment. Your expertise in medical administrative support, EMR systems, and health information management will drive efficiency and uphold the highest standards of clinical confidentiality. This position requires occasional travel to cover our other locations in Warner Robins, Milledgeville, and Griffin. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in and check-out processes
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance at time of service
- Manage appointment scheduling using EMR/EHR system eClinicalWorks to optimize provider calendars
- Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical collections with accuracy and professionalism
- Review and update medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Monitor, review, and do reminder calls for all upcoming appointments.
- Assist with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing to support accurate care plans and reimbursement processes
- Answer multi-line phone systems with proper phone etiquette; triage calls and direct inquiries efficiently
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records, perform data entry tasks including 10-key typing, and manage electronic health records management tasks
Experience
- Prior clinic experience or medical office management background is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare and Medicaid billing processes
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with medical terminology and coding standards (ICD-10/CPT) is essential
- Proven ability to handle clerical tasks such as filing, documentation review, and medical records management accurately
- Experience working in healthcare settings is advantageous.
