Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced dealership team. Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, listening carefully to their vehicle concerns and service requests
- Write detailed repair orders, accurately documenting vehicle issues, recommended services, and estimated costs using auto estimating software
- Communicate clearly with technicians regarding diagnostic findings, repair procedures, and parts requirements
- Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire rotations, alignments, brake repairs, suspension work, and transmission servicing to maximize customer satisfaction and dealership revenue
- Maintain thorough knowledge of automotive repair processes including diesel engine repair, auto body work, air brake systems, shocks & struts, and wheel alignments
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently while providing excellent customer service
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns or questions about repairs or maintenance plans
Qualifications
- Proven dealership experience with a strong background in auto service management and customer relations
- Hands-on mechanic experience with automotive diagnostics and repairs across various systems such as transmissions, brakes, suspensions, tires, oil changes, and diesel engines
- Knowledge of automotive estimating tools and service writing software is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers of all backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability in upselling services while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Familiarity with automotive repair standards including auto body repair, air brake systems, alignment procedures, shocks & struts replacement, and tire service
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with sales acumen to promote additional services effectively
- Experience handling cash transactions accurately in a fast-paced environment
