About Us: Farm to Fingers caters heavily to weddings in Southwest Colorado, local business events, as well as intimate home gatherings. We offer both an extensive hors d'oeuvres menu, as well as full-service catering, rentals, and bartending services. We strive to work with local farmers and small businesses to integrate their ethically produced goods into our grazing boards and catered meals.
Position Overview. We are seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our catering team for the busy event season. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, takes pride in food quality and consistency, and works well both independently and as part of a team.
This position focuses on food preparation and production for catered events. Primary responsibilities include preparing ingredients and menu items on Thursdays and Fridays, cooking and finishing event food on Saturdays, and preparing orders for transport in hot boxes for off-site events. Additional prep and production shifts may be scheduled throughout the week based on event volume and business needs.
This is a seasonal position running from July through October. Compensation is based on experience, skill level, and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Prepare menu items and other menu components according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Event Production: Cook, assemble, and package food for catered events, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation standards are met.
- Saturday Service Preparation: Cook and finish menu items on Saturdays and prepare food for transport in hot boxes prior to event departure.
- Kitchen Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area throughout all shifts.
- Food Safety: Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures to ensure compliance with health department regulations.
- Inventory Support: Assist with receiving, stocking, labeling, and rotating ingredients and supplies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with event leads and kitchen staff to ensure timely completion of production schedules.
- Quality Control: Monitor food quality, portioning, and consistency to meet company standards.
- Flexibility: Assist with additional prep, production, and event-related kitchen duties as needed throughout the week.
Schedule + Availability
- Primary workdays are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
- Additional shifts may be available throughout the week depending on catering volume and event schedules.
- Must be available to work Thursdays. Fridays, and Saturdays from July 1 through November 1.
- Seasonal employment runs from July through October, with possible opportunities for additional work based on business needs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in prep cook or a similar role, with a proven track record of successful event coordination.
- Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
