Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related
field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience in stormwater management, construction inspection, engineering support, infrastructure
maintenance, project coordination, environmental compliance, or related public works activities
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain Stormwater Control Measures Inspection & Maintenance Certification within one year of
employment
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
- Ability to perform field inspections and safely navigate uneven terrain, drainage structures, and construction
sites
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials and equipment as required for field operations
- Ability to use computers, measuring devices, and inspection equipment to prepare reports, analyze data, and
document findings
- Strong communication, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, Construction Management,
or related field
- Experience working in municipal government, stormwater management, environmental compliance, or public
works operations
- Experience with GIS, ArcGIS, CAD, or infrastructure mapping software
- Knowledge of NPDES MS4 permit requirements and stormwater regulations
- Experience conducting infrastructure inspections, drainage investigations, or construction oversight
- Engineering Intern (EI) certification or ability to obtain
- Experience with public outreach, environmental education, or regulatory reporting
- Familiarity with project management, grant administration, or contract coordination
