Role and Responsibilities

The Project & Maintenance Engineer is responsible for supporting engineering, maintenance, and capital project activities within the production facility. This role serves as a technical expert on plant equipment and systems, ensuring reliable operations, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Project Management
- Serve as the technical expert for process equipment and plant systems.
- Design and specify mechanical, electrical, and control equipment used in chemical processing operations.
- Develop technical specifications for equipment including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, tanks, piping systems, PLC controllers, and electrical systems.
- Manage capital projects from concept through commissioning, including planning, execution, and documentation.
- Participate in system integration, design reviews, and qualification activities.
- Develop component and system qualification procedures.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, equipment documentation, and engineering submittals.
- Interface with external contractors, engineering firms, and equipment vendors.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all engineering designs comply with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, NEC, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, environmental, and plant safety regulations.
- Ensure pressure systems and equipment meet regulatory and safety requirements.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), risk assessments, and reliability studies.
- Provide technical support during regulatory audits and inspections.
Maintenance & Reliability
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Support mechanical integrity programs and reliability initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze process and equipment performance data to optimize plant operations.
- Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Lead initiatives to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate troubleshooting activities with maintenance teams, operators, and engineering staff.
- Support plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance events.
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain operating and maintenance procedures.
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, cost reduction, and process improvements.
- Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and occasional supervision to operators and maintenance technicians.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
3–8 years of experience in chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
Strong problem solving skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ASME, ISO, and NEC.
Experience using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Experience in chemical or materials manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of PLCbased control systems and industrial automation.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
