Overview
We are seeking an energetic and passionate Canine Swim Instructor to join our expanding swim team! In this role, you will lead engaging water-based activities designed to improve dogs' confidence, safety skills, and overall well-being. Your enthusiasm for working with animals and people will help create a positive experience for our canine clients and their owners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your love of animals with your skills in sports coaching, teaching, and team leadership.
What you'll do:
You'll work hands on with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and swim levels, teaching them to swim safely, guiding water safety sessions, and running exercise and enrichment swims. You'll be in and around the water daily, so comfort in a pool is a must.
Just as important, you'll be the friendly face our clients see. You'll communicate with dog owners professionally and warmly, sharing updates on how their pup did in the water. You'll also capture the best moments of each day's swims through photos and video and post them to our social media accounts.
What we're looking for:
Prior experience working with dogs is preferred, but we're happy to train the right person. If you're a natural with animals, patient, upbeat, and reliable, we want to hear from you. Knowledge of water safety or lifeguard experience is a big plus. Comfort with a smartphone camera and social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook and TikTok to post the cuteness!
The details:
This is a part time position with real potential to grow into full time for the right person. You'll join a team that genuinely loves what it does, in a facility where every day includes wagging tails, happy splashes, and dogs discovering they love the water.
Responsibilities
- Lead fun, safe, and effective swimming sessions tailored to dogs’ skill levels and comfort zones
- Assess each dog’s swimming ability and develop individualized training plans to enhance their confidence in the water
- Communicate clearly with pet owners about their dog’s progress, safety tips, and training techniques
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe aquatic environment in compliance with health and safety standards
- Monitor water quality and equipment functionality regularly to ensure optimal conditions for canine safety
- Support team members by sharing best practices in behavior management, and client communication
- Capture the best moments of each day's swims through photos and video, then post them to our social media accounts so our community can celebrate every splash
Skills
- Prior experience working with dogs and as a lifeguard or in water safety roles is highly desirable
- Strong swimming skills with the ability to demonstrate water comfort for dogs of all sizes
- Proven team leadership abilities with excellent communication skills for client interaction and staff collaboration
- Ability to manage behavior effectively while creating a positive learning environment for dogs and owners alike
- Comfortable shooting photos and video on a smartphone and posting engaging content to social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook
