REPORTS TO: Program Director
REQUIREMENTS: Prior (preferably recent) experience in area of interest (tumbling, dance, cheerleading, etc.) Must have at least one year prior teaching experience, preferably with a variety of ages. Prior experience with competition dance is preferred.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Teach classes of ages 3 to adult.
- Follow progressions and/or lesson plans for the particular class.
- Maintain age appropriateness within each class.
- Adjust methods to students’ level.
- Maintain class discipline and dress code as stated.
- Provide a fun approach to class.
- Maintain children’s safety.
- Choreograph and prepare individual routines/pieces for individual classes.
- Attend/conduct extra rehearsals if necessary.
- Assist with preparation/cleanup at theater for performances.
- Assist with rehearsal and performance.
- Present image as a mature, responsible professional.
- Read policy sheets, brochures, newsletters, etc.
- Start classes on time, with material and music prepared.
- Take responsibility for any equipment used, such as stereo equipment.
- Speak to parents in a professional, courteous and friendly manner.
- Report any problems to supervisor.
WORK SCHEDULE: Depends on studio needs and classes available. Could involve daytime, evening and/or weekends.
COMPENSATION: Depends on experience, age of instructor, and ability.
