Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team in creating vibrant, engaging, and meaningful experiences for our residents. In this role, you will play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for seniors by planning and facilitating a variety of recreational activities tailored to individual interests and abilities. Your enthusiasm and creativity will help foster a warm, inclusive community where residents feel valued, stimulated, and connected.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead diverse recreational activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical well-being for residents.
- Develop customized activity programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and health conditions, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs), ensuring their safety and comfort during participation.
- Collaborate with care staff to integrate therapeutic recreation techniques into daily routines and special events.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced calendar of engaging events throughout the week.
- Foster an inviting environment by encouraging participation and building strong relationships with residents.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback to continually improve program quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and geriatrics to effectively support residents with cognitive challenges.
- Strong communication skills to connect empathetically with seniors and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care settings is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs and preferences.
- Demonstrated compassion for seniors and a proactive approach to program development that enhances quality of life.
