HVAC / Refrigeration Technician

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC/Refrigeration Technician to join our growing service team. In this role, you will install, maintain, diagnose, and repair a wide range of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and commercial refrigeration systems for residential and commercial clients. Compensation is commensurate with experience, ranging from $30 to $50 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, start up, and commission HVAC and refrigeration systems including split systems, rooftop units, chillers, heat pumps, and walk-in coolers/freezers
- Perform refrigerant charging, system leak checks, and equipment commissioning in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and wiring schematics
Maintenance & Inspection
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- Inspect and test system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and electrical controls
- Clean coils, filters, drains, and other components to ensure optimal system performance
Diagnostics & Repair
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant system failures using diagnostic tools and meters
- Repair or replace defective components including motors, compressors, capacitors, contactors, and control boards
- Identify refrigerant leaks and perform proper recovery, recycling, and recharge per EPA 608 regulations
- Troubleshoot commercial refrigeration systems, including display cases, walk-in units, ice machines, and reach-in coolers
Customer & Documentation
- Complete accurate service reports, work orders, and time logs using company software or paper forms
- Maintain a clean, professional job site and represent the company with integrity
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service calls as required
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of HVAC/R field experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces
- Comfortable working at heights and in extreme temperatures
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
Preferred Skills
- Experience with commercial refrigeration systems
- Proficiency with electrical troubleshooting and schematics
- NATE certification
- Experience with building automation or BMS systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Experience with multiple refrigerant types (R-410A, R-22, R-404A, R-32)

Entry Level (0–2 yrs)
$30 – $35 / hr
