Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner)
Orthopedics & Orthopedic Trauma
UPMC is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/PA or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner/CRNP) to join our Orthopedics and Orthopedic Trauma team. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care across clinic, surgical, and inpatient settings while working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact supporting patients through the full continuum of orthopedic care—from evaluation and surgical intervention to recovery.
Schedule & Work-Life Balance
Four 10-hour days per week
3–4 days of call per month
Balanced schedule across clinic, OR, and inpatient care
1–2 days in outpatient clinic
1–2 days in the operating room
Daily inpatient rounding on post-operative patients

What You'll Do
Provide comprehensive orthopedic care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage musculoskeletal conditions and injuries
Assist in the operating room and support perioperative care
Conduct inpatient rounding and manage post-operative patients
Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and interdisciplinary teams
Educate patients on treatment plans, recovery, and injury prevention
Knowledge of growth and development principles
Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan
Ability to assess patient data and deliver care per departmental policies
Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Physical stamina and dexterity required for direct patient care
Successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, where applicable.
Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)
Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program
BSN required; MSN preferred
Pennsylvania RN license and CRNP certification
National certification and eligibility for licensure and CRNP certification by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing

Physician Assistant (PA)
Graduation from an ARC‑PA–accredited Physician Assistant program
Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred
Pennsylvania PA license and NCCPA certification
Required for All APP Candidates
CPR certification required within 30 days of hire
