Located inside the Wayfinder Waikiki, we bring our passion for poke, local dishes and signature cocktails to one of the most historic and iconic neighborhoods in Honolulu.
The barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. The barista is also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees, teas and all beverages and food. The barista fulfils any other duties the store manager, assistant manager or shift supervisor assigns and represents B-Side Coffee Bar in a professional manner
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Store Operation: Restocks shelves when necessary. Routinely cleans the bar area, floor, windows and grinders, and takes out trash, etc. Assists in the distribution of weekly shipments. Informs the manager on duty of any operational inconsistencies. Occasionally work overtime and special events as needed.
- Customer Service: Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items. Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner. Reports all customer complaints to manager on duty. Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations. Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner. Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders. Answers customer questions regarding any beverages or food, preparation, and product freshness. Sells and serves baked goods, miscellaneous food items, and retail to customers. Maintains efficient, friendly service.
- Safety and Sanitation: Follows and leads in proper cleaning and organizational plan. Follow proper food handling practices by all employees. Reports potential safety hazards to the manager on duty. Reports all employee accidents to the manager on duty.
- Product and Merchandising: Ensures that all customers are educated on our products and services. Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards. Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures. Passes monthly re-certifications in a timely manner. Develops an understanding of coffee and tea regions and the differences in flavor and blends.
- Begins to educate themselves on the various types of coffee, tea products, blends and roasts. Proficiently prepares blended and cold drinks provided by the store.

Skills
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy, Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Program, Word, Outlook, Excel etc.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, multitasking and problem-solving skills
- Requires high organization and great attention to detail
- Performs with a “sense of urgency” and possesses a positive attitude
Education & Experience
- Entry level position
- Register and cash handling experience a plus
Other Requirements
- At least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of start date. Acceptable proof of age must be provided after the job offer and prior to start date.
- Knowledge of liquor commission rules and regulations.
- Possess a valid Honolulu Liquor Commission Liquor Card.
- Possess a valid Tuberculosis Card.
Physical Requirements
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects
- Frequent standing and walk for long periods of time, approximately 90% of shift
- Ability to bend over and kneel frequently
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; occasionally carry up to 25 pounds
