We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join a growing residential real estate organization. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background in residential property management, preferably within a third-party management environment. The Property Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and supporting a portfolio of residential properties while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company and client reporting standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential properties
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reporting packages
- Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and journal entries
- Handle month-end and year-end close processes in a timely manner
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable activity
- Analyze variances and assist with budget preparation and forecasting
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and prepaid/amortization schedules
- Coordinate with property managers regarding operational and financial matters
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and owner reporting requirements
- Assist with audits, CAM reconciliations, and supporting documentation requests
- Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury-related activities as needed
- Maintain accurate tenant ledgers and security deposit reconciliations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of property accounting experience within residential real estate
- Experience working for a third-party property management company strongly preferred
- Proficiency with property management/accounting software such as Yardi or RealPage
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience managing multiple properties/entities simultaneously
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
