About the Opportunity
A growing manufacturer of custom industrial equipment is seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, and commissioning of highly engineered automation systems.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, one-off equipment used in manufacturing environments across a global customer base. Engineers here are heavily involved from initial programming through installation, startup, and ongoing system support.
What You’ll Do
- Program and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Support development and commissioning of custom automation equipment
- Work closely with engineering teams to bring new machines from concept through startup
- Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Provide remote support for equipment in the field
- Debug electrical and controls issues using schematics and system knowledge
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams on system integration
- This role includes roughly 10-20% travel for system commissioning and support (may vary by project)
What They’re Looking For
- 3–8+ years of experience in controls / automation engineering
- Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)
- Background in custom equipment, system integration, or machine building environments
- Experience supporting or commissioning equipment in the field
- Strong troubleshooting ability using electrical schematics
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, project-driven environment
Nice to Have
- Robotics experience (FANUC, KUKA, etc.)
- HMI or basic SCADA exposure
- Experience with vision systems or advanced automation
- Exposure to global customer support or travel

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
