Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Measurement Specialist to support our metal fabrication operations. This role is responsible for visiting job sites to take accurate field measurements, verify layouts, and manage all dimensional information required for the preparation of detailed fabrication and shop drawings. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in the metal fabrication industry and can effectively communicate field conditions to the fabrication and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit job sites throughout South Florida to take accurate field measurements
- Perform field layout verification and confirm installation conditions
- Collect, organize, and manage dimensional data for fabrication purposes
- Communicate measurements, site conditions, and discrepancies clearly to the fabrication and drafting teams
- Review and interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings
- Identify conflicts or deviations between drawings and field conditions
- Ensure measurements comply with project specifications and Florida Building Code requirements
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and installers as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in the metal fabrication or architectural metals industry
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and shop drawings
- Knowledge of the Florida Building Code
- Familiarity with metal components such as:
- Railings (including stair railings)
- Trellises
- Fencing
- Structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- close attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites
Preferred Skills
- Experience with field measuring tools and layout equipment
- Understanding of fabrication tolerances and installation requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience coordinating directly with fabrication or drafting teams
