The Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD) deploys over $200 million annually to advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state’s clean energy and climate change policy goals, including in, but not limited to, the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, clean transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management.
The Operations Unit (OU) manages the operations of the division’s clean energy technology programs with oversight of the solicitation planning and agreement administration to ensure that the methodology supports the state and federal policies and budgetary requirements. The OU oversees the division’s resource allocations and works with the CEC Budgets Office and the ERDD fiscal liaison to ensure the division has adequate program funding. Additionally, the OU is responsible for the division’s expense budgets, human resources functions, document routing and approval, final report processing, SharePoint and team site administration, outreach and engagement activity support, general administrative support functions, and process improvement project facilitation.
Under the supervision of the OU Supervisor and guidance from the OU team leads, the Operations Analyst performs work of average difficulty to plan and finalize operational research and development activities and projects. The incumbent uses basic analytical skills to perform a wide variety of consultative and analytical staff services assignments related to human resources requests, final report management, the ERDD SharePoint site as well as individual team sites, and ERDD external website administration. The incumbent supports the division as a key contact person and coordinator for their assigned activities and works cooperatively and professionally with internal and external staff. The incumbent works in an environment of multiple and competing priorities. Duties and responsibilities require research, analysis, and the use of independent judgement and discretion to interpret and apply statues, regulations, and policies and procedures.

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.
