Overview
Join our dedicated educational team as a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher, where you will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. In this role, you will develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapt curriculum to meet each student’s unique abilities, and collaborate closely with families and other professionals to promote student success. Responsibilities
- Design and deliver tailored lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and individual student goals, incorporating instructional modifications as needed
- Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure personalized educational strategies
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and consistent routines
- Utilize educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and support student engagement
- Conduct assessments, including standardized testing and progress monitoring, to evaluate student development and inform instruction
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share progress, discuss concerns, and coordinate support strategies
- Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support comprehensive student development
- Implement early intervention strategies for students with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, behavioral incidents, and instructional modifications in compliance with special education law
Skills
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional modifications
- Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher interactions and team collaboration
- Expertise in classroom management techniques tailored for students with diverse behavioral needs
- Ability to integrate educational technology into daily instruction for enhanced learning outcomes
- Familiarity with speech therapy techniques, behavioral therapy approaches, and literacy education strategies
- Experience working with children across early childhood to elementary school age, including preschool experience or Montessori settings preferred
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders support strategies and behavior management for students with neurodevelopmental disorders
- Skills in curriculum development for special education programs across core subjects such as math, literacy, and library services
- Ability to adapt teaching methods for students’ individual learning styles while maintaining high expectations for all learners

Pay: $56,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
