Business Development Officer
Location/Territory: Lake Norman, Iredell County, Cabarrus County, Rowan County, and surrounding North/Northwest Charlotte markets
Target areas include: Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Concord, Kannapolis, Salisbury, Statesville, Troutman, China Grove, Denver, Lincolnton, Hickory, Conover, Newton, and nearby markets
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $60,000 to $80,000 base salary, plus commission
Work Setting: Primarily remote and market-facing, with regular client/prospect activity throughout the assigned territory

We are continuing to expand across the Lake Norman, Iredell, Cabarrus, Rowan, and North/Northwest Charlotte markets and are looking for a positive, professional, and driven Business Development Officer to help grow our local presence.
Position Overview
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying, developing, and growing new client relationships across an assigned local territory.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting out in the market, starting conversations, building relationships with business owners and decision-makers, and creating long-term client partnerships.
Industry experience is not required. We are more focused on finding someone who is hungry, coachable, energetic, professional, and excited to be part of a growing team.
The right person will be comfortable with prospecting, cold calling, in-person meetings, follow-up activity, and representing WorkForce Unlimited in a professional and positive way.
Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the assigned North/Northwest Charlotte territory.
Build relationships with local businesses, especially within manufacturing, distribution, logistics, warehouse, and industrial environments.
Conduct cold calls, in-person visits, email outreach, and follow-up activity to generate new client conversations.
Develop and maintain a consistent sales pipeline.
Schedule and conduct meetings with prospective clients to understand workforce needs.
Present staffing and workforce solutions based on each client’s business needs.
Manage client relationships through strong communication, follow-up, and service.
Partner with internal recruiting and operations teams to ensure client expectations are understood and supported.
Track sales activity, pipeline updates, and client communication in CRM systems.
Represent WorkForce Unlimited with professionalism, urgency, and a relationship-first approach in the local business community.
Qualifications
2+ years of outside sales, B2B sales, business development, territory sales, account management, or related client-facing sales experience preferred.
Comfort with cold calling, prospecting, and in-person business development.
Strong communication, follow-up, and relationship-building skills.
Positive, professional, energetic, and coachable personality.
Ability to stay organized while managing prospects, follow-ups, and pipeline activity.
Willingness to be active throughout the assigned local market.
Local ties to Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Concord, Kannapolis, Salisbury, Statesville, or the surrounding market are a plus.
Experience selling into manufacturing, distribution, logistics, warehouse, industrial, HR services, payroll, PEO, or workforce-related clients is a plus.
Staffing industry experience is acceptable, but not required.
CRM experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent professional experience will be considered.
Compensation
Base salary is expected to be $60,000 to $80,000, plus commission.
There is strong commission upside, with the goal for sales representatives to have the ability to double their base through commission.
