Seaport Resort & Marina — Fairhaven, MA
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends for client meetings, site tours, networking events, and major group arrivals
Compensation: $50,000–$60,000 base salary + performance incentives/commission
About the Role
Seaport Resort & Marina is seeking a motivated Hotel Group Sales Manager to develop and grow our group, corporate, meeting, and room-block business.
This is a proactive sales position. We are looking for someone who will actively identify new business opportunities, build relationships with prospective accounts, respond to incoming group inquiries, conduct consistent follow-up, and convert opportunities into definite bookings.
The Group Sales Manager will focus primarily on generating hotel room-block and group business, while working alongside our existing events team on groups requiring meeting or event space.
The ideal candidate has hospitality sales experience, is comfortable prospecting for new accounts, and understands how to move an opportunity from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, contract, and final booking.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and pursue new group business for Seaport Resort & Marina
- Develop relationships with corporate accounts, meeting planners, tour operators, sports organizations, associations, educational institutions, government organizations, wedding groups, and other potential clients
- Prospect for new accounts through phone, email, networking, referrals, online research, and in-person outreach
- Respond promptly to incoming group and room-block inquiries
- Qualify leads based on dates, room requirements, budget, meeting-space needs, and overall revenue potential
- Prepare proposals, quotes, room-block agreements, and group contracts
- Conduct property tours and site visits for prospective clients and meeting planners
- Negotiate group rates and packages within established pricing guidelines
- Maintain consistent follow-up with prospective clients throughout the sales cycle
- Maintain an organized sales pipeline using the property's CRM/group sales platform
- Track tentative, definite, lost, and future group opportunities
- Coordinate with Revenue Management and hotel leadership regarding group rates, availability, and displacement considerations
- Work with the Events Coordinator on groups requiring Ballroom, Commodore Room, tent, catering, or other event-space arrangements
- Provide accurate group information to Front Desk and Operations teams before arrival
- Maintain relationships with existing accounts and pursue repeat group business
- Conduct post-stay follow-up with group contacts to encourage repeat bookings and referrals
- Represent Seaport Resort & Marina at appropriate networking events, industry events, and local business organizations
- Develop new market segments and identify opportunities during need periods
- Provide regular reporting on sales activity, pipeline value, definite bookings, room nights, and group revenue

You should be comfortable asking:
"Who should be bringing their group to Seaport Resort & Marina that isn't currently doing business with us?"
