We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Seamstress Tailor Sewist Alterations Specialist to join our dynamic fashion retail team. In this role, you will be the expert behind transforming garments to fit perfectly, ensuring each customer leaves with a polished, custom look. Your skills in garment construction, sewing, and alterations will help elevate our brand’s reputation for quality and personalized service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of fabrics and styles, delivering exceptional craftsmanship in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform garment alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing to meet individual customer specifications
- Use sewing machines and hand sewing techniques to execute precise stitching and garment repairs
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp finishes and professional presentation
- Consult with customers to understand their alteration needs and provide expert advice on garment adjustments
- Ensure all garments are constructed or altered according to high-quality standards and specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of pressing equipment and sewing tools
- Collaborate with team members to complete custom apparel production efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Create Patterns from scratch based on customer design requirements
- Assist in designing garments to fit the customers needs
- Specialize in Bridal and Evening gown construction.
- Suit and Tuxedo alterations/Construction
Skills
- Proven experience in fashion retail, garment sewing, or tailoring with a strong portfolio of alterations work
- Proficiency in operating sewing machines, pressing machines, and press operation techniques
- Skilled in hand sewing for delicate or intricate repairs and finishing touches
- Knowledge of garment construction principles and fabric handling techniques
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements, sizing adjustments, and pattern modifications
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Strong stitching skills with attention to detail for seamless alterations and repairs
