Job Title: Shop Mechanic

Position Summary
The Shop Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and fabricating equipment used in daily operations. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and welding/fabrication experience to ensure all company equipment, trailers, trucks, pumps, and support machinery remain in safe working condition. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on company vehicles, trailers, pumps, compressors, and shop equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on diesel and gasoline-powered equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including wiring, switches, relays, motors, lighting, and charging systems.
- Perform Stick /tack welding as needed for equipment repairs and fabrication projects.
- Fabricate brackets, guards, supports, and other custom metal components.
- Repair hydraulic systems, hoses, fittings, valves, and cylinders.
- Maintain pneumatic systems and air compressors.
- Replace bearings, belts, chains, gears, pumps, motors, seals, and other mechanical components.
- Conduct inspections to identify worn or damaged parts before equipment failure occurs.
- Maintain shop tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and service manuals.
- Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Assist field personnel with equipment repairs when necessary.
- Participate in emergency repairs outside of normal working hours when required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
- Welding certification or demonstrated welding experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems (12V, 24V, and 120/240V preferred)
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Ability to operate shop equipment including welders, plasma cutters, grinders, presses, forklifts, and lifting equipment.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Experience
- Experience maintaining:
- commercial vehicles
- Trailers
- Pumps and compressors
- Heavy industrial equipment
- Experience with diesel engines.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs.

Physical Requirements

- Wear required PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, hearing protection, and welding gear.
Work Environment
- Industrial maintenance shop
- Outdoor job sites as needed
- Occasional overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs
- Exposure to oils, grease, chemicals, welding fumes, and weather conditions
Safety Expectations
The Shop Mechanic is expected to:
- Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.
- Perform equipment lockout/tagout procedures when required.
- Conduct daily inspections of tools and equipment.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in all required safety meetings and training.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
