Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Sous Chef to lead the culinary program of a new, upscale Asian restaurant. This is a unique opportunity for a creative leader who is passionate about Asian cuisine and committed to maintaining the highest standards of kosher compliance.
About the Role
As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, developing an innovative and cohesive menu, and building a strong, disciplined culinary team. You will play a key role in shaping the identity of the restaurant while ensuring excellence in execution, consistency, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all kitchen operations, including prep, service, and sanitation
- Design and execute a modern Asian-inspired menu (seasonal and trend-driven)
- Ensure strict adherence to kosher dietary laws and kitchen protocols
- Hire, train, and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high performance standards
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation at all times
- Control food costs, inventory, and purchasing while minimizing waste
- Collaborate with ownership and management on concept development and specials
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume or upscale restaurant
- Strong background in Asian cuisine (Japanese, Chinese, Southeast Asian, or fusion)
- Knowledge of kitchen operations (or willingness to learn and work closely with supervision)
- Leadership skills with the ability to build and inspire a team
- Strong organizational and operational management skills
- Creativity with a deep understanding of flavor profiles and modern plating techniques
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience opening or leading a new restaurant concept
- Familiarity with modern techniques (robata, wok, fermentation, etc.)
- Strong vendor relationships and sourcing knowledge

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
