Structural Engineer – Commercial Nuclear Modifications
Remote | Contract | 12+ Months | Multiple Openings
Pay Rate: $55–$85/hr W2, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week | Some OT possible
Start Date: ASAP
We are hiring multiple Structural Engineers to support remote commercial nuclear power plant modification projects. This role is focused on structural modifications, design calculations, pipe supports, building structure modifications, rigging/load evaluations, and engineering document preparation/review.
Candidates must have previous commercial nuclear power plant experience.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review engineering documents for commercial nuclear plant modifications
- Support design work for concrete, steel structures, heavy load components, equipment supports, pipe supports, and building modifications
- Perform design calculations, specification development, conceptual studies, cost/planning studies, and seismic evaluations
- Develop and review 3D analytical models using FEA and response spectra seismic analysis techniques
- Support rigging/load evaluations and heavy load component evaluations
- Apply AISC Allowable Stress Design methodology used in commercial nuclear environments
- Coordinate with project teams and participate in daily remote team calls
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience
- Prior commercial nuclear power plant experience required
- Experience with structural modifications, not just analysis
- Experience with Mathcad, MATLAB, or similar engineering calculation tools
- Experience with finite element analysis software
- Ability to prepare and review engineering calculations and design documents
- US Citizen or Green Card holder only
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous design verification qualification/certification on commercial nuclear projects
- Experience working under 10 CFR 50 Appendix B QA programs
- Mathcad Prime experience
- GTSTRUDL experience
- Pipe support design and/or piping analysis experience per ASME B31.1
- Lead experience on structural modification projects
- Experience with steel design using AISC Allowable Stress Design methodology
Remote Work Requirements:
- Remote position
- Eastern or Central Time Zone candidates preferred
- Mountain Time Zone candidates may be considered if able to support daily team calls starting at 8:45 AM ET / 6:45 AM MT
Interview Process:
- Two Teams interviews
- No security clearance required
- Contract position with ASAP start
