Domestic Violence Advocate - Multiple Shifts & Schedules Available
United Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Domestic Violence Advocates to join our Domestic Violence Program (DVP) in Danielson, Connecticut. Advocates work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a 24/7 residential shelter that provides safety, support, and resources to adults and children fleeing domestic violence.
In this role, you will provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, case management, and shelter support services for survivors of domestic violence. You will also assist with hotline coverage, facilitate access to community resources, and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure clients receive comprehensive support.

What You Will Do (Day-to-Day):
- Become a certified domestic violence counselor.
- Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and safety planning for shelter residents and those living in the community.
- Deliver advocacy, case management, and support services to victims and survivors of domestic violence.
- Provide individual and group support and counseling services.
- Coordinate services and referrals to community resources, healthcare providers, legal services, and other support systems.
- Assist with shelter operations and maintain a safe, supportive environment for residents.
- Respond to hotline calls and provide safety planning, information, referrals, and crisis support.
- Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to meet client needs and support positive outcomes.
- Complete documentation and maintain accurate client records.
- Participate in program meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform general office and shelter-related duties, including filing, organizing materials, copying, and cleaning responsibilities.
Available Schedule:
1st shift:
- 1st shift: Monday through Friday 9:00 A.M.-5:30 P.M. (40 hours per week)
2nd shift:
- 2nd shift: Friday & Saturday, 12:30 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. (16 hours per week)
- 2nd shift: Monday through Friday 12:30 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. (40 hours per week)
3rd shift:
- 3rd shift: Thursday-Saturday 8:45 P.M.-7:15 A.M. (30 hours)
Qualifications:
- 1st and 2nd shift positions: Bachelors Degree in relevant human services field, or Associates Degree plus two years of appropriate experience required.
- 3rd shift positions: High School Diploma plus four years of appropriate experience required.
Salary/Hourly Range: $19.00-$21.50 per hour (depending on experience)
Bilingual (Spanish/English) rate of pay: $19.96-$22.59 per hour (depending on experience)

Work Location: Because our clients rely on face-to face support to build trust, this position requires employees to be fully present in the office and in the community depending on the position.
