Assistant Kitchen Manager
Position Summary
The Assistant Kitchen Manager is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the kitchen, ensuring exceptional food quality, efficient service, food safety compliance, and effective team leadership. This position is hands-on and requires actively working the line while overseeing kitchen staff, inventory, ordering, and overall kitchen performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations
- Lead and work on the cooking line during service to ensure timely and accurate food preparation.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, presentation, and portion control.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
- Resolve operational issues quickly to ensure smooth service.
Staff Management
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, and develop kitchen employees.
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Order food, beverages, and kitchen supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Perform regular inventory counts and monitor food costs.
- Minimize waste through proper storage, rotation, and portion control.
- Work with vendors to maintain quality products and competitive pricing.
Menu Development
- Create and update monthly food menus and seasonal specials.
- Develop recipes and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency.
- Evaluate menu performance and adjust offerings based on customer demand and profitability.
Financial Responsibilities
- Monitor food and labor costs to meet budget goals.
- Assist with forecasting inventory needs and controlling operating expenses.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and increase profitability.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant kitchen management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
- Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and food ordering systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Pay: $23.00 - $31.00 per hour
