Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Para Educator
Summary:
-
CNA/Para Educators provide positive and nurturing supports to students in the school setting. Supports include attending to students’ physical, personal, and/or social emotional needs. Upon completion of these duties the CNA/Para Educator will be assigned and delegated tasks and responsibilities under the direction and supervision of the building Administrator or designee. The CNA Para Educator will work in a variety of classroom settings, including but not limited to specialized classrooms for students with severe developmental delays, intellectual and/or neurological impairments. Classrooms may be at one or multiple grade levels. Students’ needs may include personal care activities such as toileting, transporting, lifting, feeding, etc.
Responsibilities:

Will assist the students’ care team with a variety of personal care assistance to students including but not limited to toileting, feeding, physical lifting of students for hygiene and body positioning changes.

May be asked to review student IEPs on an as needed basis to ensure students’ needs are understood and being met.

Work under the direction and guidance of administration or designee in supporting the needs of students while promoting the student’s growth and achievement.

Supporting students transitions during arrival and dismissal, between subjects/classes in school, and between activities.

Will complete all necessary reports, logs, paperwork related to services provided to students.

Will ensure respect and dignity is shown to students.

Will respect the privacy and confidentiality of student information.

Other duties related to the support of students as directed by Administration.
Qualifications:
-
Certified Nursing Assistant with a valid license to practice in Massachusetts
-
Minimum of 48 college credits; or Passed the Para Pro test
-
Experience working with children; in an educational setting preferred
-
Experience working with children with Special Education services strongly preferred

Passion to work with school aged children
-
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. regularly alone, additional amounts with assistance
-
Frequently bend, crouch, kneel, stand, sit, see, speak, use of fine motor skills to grasp, pinch, write, type.

Rate: In accordance with the Paraprofessional contract found here
