Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify speech, language, and swallowing disorders using medical terminology and standardized evaluation tools
- Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs, including early intervention strategies for children and therapy for geriatric patients
- Deliver engaging speech therapy sessions through in-person or telehealth platforms, utilizing telehealth experience to maximize accessibility and effectiveness
- Collaborate closely with educators, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure cohesive patient care and progress monitoring
- Maintain accurate documentation within EMR/EHR systems, including progress notes, treatment updates, and patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, techniques, and strategies to support ongoing communication improvement at home or school
- Stay current with advancements in speech therapy practices, physiology knowledge, and working with individuals with disabilities to enhance service quality
Requirements
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or equivalent credential
- Proven school experience working with children in educational or clinical settings preferred
- Strong background in pediatrics and early intervention programs; experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessment accurately using anatomy knowledge and understanding of physiology
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to speech-language pathology and patient care documentation standards
- Experience delivering telehealth therapy sessions effectively; proficiency with EMR/EHR systems is essential
- Passion for working with individuals with disabilities across diverse age groups; excellent communication skills are vital
