Skilled Carpenter (Framing + Remodeling Experience Required)
Position Summary
The Lead Carpenter will perform and oversee a wide variety of residential construction projects including additions, structural framing, remodeling, siding, roofing, window and door installation, decks, and finish carpentry.
This position requires someone who can work independently, lead projects when needed, communicate professionally with homeowners, and consistently produce high-quality workmanship.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, pays close attention to detail, and believes that doing the job right the first time is the only way to do it.
ResponsibilitiesResidential Construction
- Construct residential additions from foundation through finish.
- Perform structural framing including walls, floors, roofs, and engineered framing.
- Install windows and exterior doors.
- Install siding including vinyl, fiber cement, composite, cedar, and trim.
- Perform roofing work including repairs and replacements when necessary.
- Build decks, porches, covered entries, and outdoor living spaces.
- Complete interior remodeling including kitchens, bathrooms, drywall repairs, trim, flooring, and finish carpentry.
- Diagnose and repair structural damage caused by water, rot, storms, or accidents.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and construction plans.
- Verify measurements and maintain quality throughout construction.
Project Leadership
- Lead small crews when assigned.
- Coordinate daily work efficiently.
- Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced carpenters.
- Communicate project progress with management.
- Maintain professional relationships with homeowners.
- Solve field issues independently whenever possible.
- Coordinate with subcontractors when required.
Jobsite Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
- Protect customer property throughout construction.
- Ensure projects meet company quality standards.
- Perform quality control before work is considered complete.
- Load and unload materials.
- Operate company vehicles responsibly.
- Maintain company tools and equipment.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all OSHA safety regulations.
- Properly use fall protection.
- Safely operate ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and power tools.
- Wear required PPE.
- Maintain a safe working environment for the entire crew.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of residential carpentry experience.
- Strong framing experience.
- Experience building additions.
- Experience with structural repairs.
- Experience installing windows and doors.
- Experience with siding systems.
- Experience with trim carpentry.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Excellent attendance and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
- Roofing
- Deck construction
- Interior remodeling
- Kitchens and bathrooms
- Exterior trim work
- Flashing and waterproofing
- Equipment operation (skid steer, boom lift, scissor lift)
- Material estimating
- Crew leadership
