We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Review patient records and medical documentation to ensure proper coding with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes
- Resolve claim denials and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection strategies
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and health insurance details to facilitate smooth claims processing
- Maintain detailed records of medical billing activities, updates in medical records, and correspondence with payers
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing information or coding discrepancies
- Stay current with healthcare claims management regulations, medical terminology, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance and accuracy
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing or healthcare claims management within a medical office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and DRG classifications
- Familiarity with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers
- Understanding of health insurance policies, benefits verification processes, and medical records management
- Ability to interpret complex medical terminology accurately and apply it within billing procedures
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail is highly preferred
