Job Summary
The Preschool Teaching Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, loving, and Christ-centered learning environment for young children. This role helps implement developmentally appropriate activities that nurture each child’s spiritual, social, emotional, and academic growth. The assistant works closely with the lead teacher to provide a positive classroom experience where children feel valued and loved.
Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher in daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions.
- Assist with classroom setup, clean-up, and maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Help prepare materials for lessons, crafts, and learning centers.
- Provide attentive supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
- Encourage positive social interactions and model Christ-like behavior.
- Build nurturing relationships with children and families.
- Assist with snack time, bathroom breaks, and other daily needs.
- Participate in prayer, Bible lessons, and other faith-based activities as part of the school day.
- Communicate any concerns regarding children’s development or behavior to the lead teacher or director.
- Support the overall mission and values of the church and preschool program.
Skills
- A heart for working with young children and sharing God’s love.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Experience working with preschool-age children (classroom, church, or childcare setting).
- Demonstrates patience, kindness, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must complete background check and any required state or church safety trainings.
- Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs and engage in active play with children.
