Job Overview
The Jewelry Bench Solderer is responsible for hard soldering pieces, sizing and/or shaping items. Will train right individual.
First Shift only 7:30am-4:00pm
DUTIES:
- Read job ticket to determine process required
- Use torches to melt solder along edges to join of pieces as required on job ticket.
- Examine seams for defects and rework as necessary.
- Melt and apply solder to fill holes or indentations.
- Clean pieces to remove dirt or excess acid.
- Grind, cut or bend edges of pieces to be joined to ensure snug fit.
- Brush flux onto joints to prevent oxidation.
- Size rings by various methods.
- Clean joints of pieces with wire brushes or dipping in cleaning solutions.
- Maintain equipment parts.
- Post jobs on computer
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Knowledge in the use of hand torches and other soldering equipment.
- Determine the correct soldering technique for each type of job.
- Make minor adjustments to pieces for correct alignment of parts.
- Recognize defects in metal and refer to shift leader.
- Meet production standards.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience soldering gold, gold filled and silver
- Occasional use of foot press.
- Detail oriented
- Good hand and eye coordination
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 10 lbs.
- Sitting 80%
- Standing and/or walking 20%
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
