MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Peer Advocate will work as a fully integrated team member providing individual virtual and face-to-face services in the client’s home, clinic, or community as specified in the service protocols of North Shore Child/Family Guidance Center-Adolescent Outpatient Chemical Dependency Treatment Program.
9- Hours per week
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide individual support to individuals who have been identified with a substance use and or co-occurring diagnosis.
· Serve as a role model, mentor, and advocate in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery.
· Establish a trusting relationship with client based on mutuality and positive regards during outreach and meetings in the community and in various program settings.
· Support client in developing and implementing a person-centered recovery plan that is relevant to the current expressed needs of the client, consistent with the treatment plan of care.
· Share appropriate personal experiences to foster a sense of hope and recovery.
· Ensure coordination of services through collaboration and consultation with other treatment staff and identified family members of clients.
· Assist client with entitlements and concrete services, working together with client.
· Advocates on client’s behalf via telephone and written correspondence.
· Increase client’s awareness or recovery services and supports in the family and community.
· Assist client to connect or reconnect and link to appropriate supports that enhance the quality and security of life, including self-help groups.
· Produce and maintain thorough, accurate and timely documentation, including interactions with client, services provided, important information and or events, and contacts with other agencies and service providers, as required by agency policies and procedures.
· Documents time and efforts and task during working hours as required for billing.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
High School diploma or GED
Certified OASAS Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) and or CRPA-Provisional
At least Two (2) years’ work experience or volunteer experience in a recovery-oriented setting.
Knowledge of substance use disorder recovery process.
Computer literacy including familiarity in Microsoft Office
Excellent time management
Must be available to travel throughout required catchment area as needed for applicable program activities.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
SALARY: $20.00 per hour
