Job Summary
The Hilton Garden Inn Knoxville Papermill is looking for a motivated Food & Beverage Supervisor to help lead the evening operation for the hotel bar and kitchen, ensuring guests receive friendly, efficient service and that all food and beverage standards are consistently met. This role requires hands-on supervision of bartenders, servers and kitchen staff, while also assuming managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys practicing servant leadership, staying organized, solving problems, and isn't afraid to jump in wherever needed.
Reports To: This position works directly with the Food & Beverage Director to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
Schedule: This is a full-time position. Hours will primarily consist of afternoon and evening shifts but may vary based on business needs. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays as required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing daily Food & Beverage operations
- Lead and support kitchen and restaurant staff
- Help hire, train, coach, and develop team members
- Create schedules and assist with staffing needs
- Ensure food quality, cleanliness, and food safety standards are maintained
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and cost control
- Maintain organization, recipes, training materials, and operational standards
- Help coordinate breakfast, dinner service, catering, and special events
- Step in wherever needed to ensure excellent guest service
Qualifications & Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership in supervising hospitality teams with excellent communication skills for staff training and team management.
- Hotel or banquet experience is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of POS systems including Agilysys
- Proficient in cash handling and transaction processing.
- ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)
- Tennessee ABC Server Permit (or ability to obtain)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Takes ownership and solves problems independently
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Values organization, accountability, and teamwork
- Wants to help build and improve a growing Food & Beverage operation
- Familiarity with catering, banquet services, bar operations, and hotel or casual dining experiences is highly desirable
- Leads by example and enjoys working alongside their team
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 25–50 pounds.
- Ability to transport catering items, food trays, and supplies to meeting spaces as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and service environment.
