The Director of Rehabilitation Services is responsible for the efficient operation of the facility’s rehabilitation department. Working collectively with the entire facility staff, the Director of Rehabilitation Services will ensure that appropriate levels of therapy are provided to all residents who require such service and that the delivery of such therapy services is diverse, consisting of physical, occupational and speech therapy as supported by resident diagnosis

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This summarizes the major essential responsibilities and duties regularly performed and normally assigned to this position. Listed below are a summary of the position responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the daily scheduling needs of the department with input from the treating therapists to meet the residents’ clinical requirements efficiently.
- Provide direct resident care as per their practice act.
- Ensure clinical management of rehab department is met including: case management, clinical utilization, care planning, and patient identification
- Monitor clinical services being delivered to ensure regulatory compliance and evidence based care is being delivered.
- Perform routine audits of clinical documentation within the electronic medical record system and delivers education if deficits are found.
- Establish professional relationships with residents and family members to ensure that consistent communication is provided to them on a regular basis
- Partner with residents, family members and facility staff through the care plan and discharge planning process to facilitate transition to the appropriate level of care.
- Monitor labor hours and ensure that the therapy department operates efficiently.
- Ensure that the therapy team works collectively with every department in the facility in an effort to provide consistent, quality care to our residents
- Assist as needed with facility training.
- Ensure that the care plan team has necessary information to conduct exceptional care conferences when they are scheduled
- Responsible for the hiring, clinical and operational orientation, development and annual evaluation of all the rehab staff.
- Maintain knowledge level of Medicare and state practice updates
EDUCATION/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- Degree from an accredited program in a rehabilitation field.
- Must be licensed as required in the state practice act.
- Must be able to practice in their specific discipline as per state guidelines.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 years direct care experience and one year management, this experience in long term care is preferred.
