Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel new and established patient appointments according to provider schedules and practice protocols.
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally, directing calls to the appropriate department when necessary.
- Register new patients and update existing patient demographic, insurance, and contact information.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required referrals or authorizations when applicable.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, imaging, and laboratory visits as directed by providers.
- Communicate appointment instructions, preparation requirements, and office policies to patients.
- Monitor provider schedules to maximize efficiency while maintaining appropriate appointment availability.
- Manage appointment waitlists and contact patients regarding cancellations or earlier appointment opportunities.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding scheduling, office procedures, and general information.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) and scheduling system.
- Collaborate with providers, medical assistants, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Support front office operations as needed, including check-in, check-out, and other administrative duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year of medical scheduling, medical office, or healthcare customer service experience preferred.
- Experience in an endocrinology or specialty medical practice is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
