USD 383 is looking for people who enjoy being a part of a school community and can assist in providing safe transportation for our students to and from school/activities. Your responsibilities will include assisting in student loading and unloading, reinforcing positive behaviors during transport, and maintaining accurate documentation. QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Participate in and pass the CPR course offered through USD 383 or already have up to date CPR certification.
- Must be able to pass endurance test and lift/drag 75 lbs.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and are subject to random drug testing.
- All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary:
- $12.00 - $14.00/hr.
- Placement within this range is based on relevant qualifications, including prior experience, education, and applicable certifications (e.g., bachelor's degree, advanced certification, bilingual proficiency, etc.).
Hours Per Day:
- Mornings - 6:00 am – 9:00 am
- Afternoons - 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- Average of 6 hours a day/30 hours a week.
- Possible additional hours with noon routes and/or working for another department.
Terms of Employment:
- Position available during the regular school year (August – May).
- Options for summer employment (summer school in June and July) through Transportation and/or another department.
- New employees go through a 45-day introductory period as part of onboarding after which benefits will begin, and leave can be used.
Reports To: Director of Transportation.
- Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
JOB DUTIES
- Assist young or special education students in getting on and off the bus.
- Assist the bus driver with maintaining discipline and monitoring students while the bus is in operation.
- Assure responsible adult meets students leaving the bus as required.
- Communicate with drivers, teachers, aides and parents concerning student medical needs and behavior as appropriate.
- Consult with bus driver in the documentation of student information and possible assigned seating.
- Understand and relate to students with special needs.
- Be able to teach students proper vehicle safety lessons.
- Utilize car seats and harness clasps, seat belts and wheelchair security as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the bus driver.
Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per year
