PRN Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) – Independent Contractor
Location: Edgewater, NJ (Home Visits)
Job Type: Independent Contractor (1099) | PRN
Compensation: Competitive per-visit rate (based on experience)
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced, dependable Registered Nurse to provide in-home infusion services for one private client over approximately 17–20 weeks. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN looking for flexible supplemental income while providing one-on-one patient care.
The ideal candidate is confident in peripheral IV placement, works independently, communicates professionally, and is comfortable following detailed clinical protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform peripheral IV insertion.
- Administer IV infusions according to written provider protocols.
- Monitor the patient throughout the infusion.
- Adjust infusion rate only as directed or based on patient tolerance within established protocols.
- Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and completely.
- Leave completed documentation in the patient's chart following each visit.
- Notify the supervising provider of any concerns or unexpected findings.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
Schedule
This position requires flexibility.
Typical infusion days are:
Occasionally:
Some weeks may require only one visit.
Visits will continue for approximately 17–20 weeks.
Because the patient's schedule may change, flexibility and responsiveness are essential.
Communication Expectations
- Video check-in with supervising provider before the first patient visit prior to session.
- Phone or text check-in at the beginning and conclusion of each subsequent visit.
- Immediate communication regarding any concerns, complications, or scheduling issues.
Qualifications
Required
✔ Active, unrestricted New Jersey RN license
✔ Current BLS certification
✔ Minimum two years of RN experience
✔ Strong peripheral IV insertion skills
✔ Excellent communication skills
✔ Reliable transportation
✔ Ability to work independently
✔ Professional demeanor
Preferred:
- Home infusion experience
- Emergency Department experience
- ICU experience
- Oncology infusion experience
- PICC/Midline experience
Hiring Requirements
Final candidates must successfully complete:
- New Jersey RN license verification
- Criminal background check
- Professional reference checks
- Verification of current BLS certification
- Completion of HIPAA and confidentiality agreements
- Independent Contractor Agreement
- Orientation and protocol review before first assignment
