Position Overview
1C | The Sanctuary, BLAST Summer Camp is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and energetic Bus Driver for the 2026 summer camp season. This role is perfect for someone looking for a flexible schedule while playing a vital part in our campers' summer adventures!
You will transport campers and staff from 1C | The Sanctuary Church to various locations in town and in nearby towns and/or camps. While local trips around town are the most common, some excursions to neighboring areas may be up to 5 hours away at a time. This includes paid waiting time while campers are at the destination.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Transportation: Safely operate a 48-passenger bus in compliance with all federal, state (Nebraska), and local traffic laws.
- Pre/Post-Trip Inspections: Perform daily mandatory pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections (checking brakes, lights, fluids, and emergency exits). Report any maintenance concerns immediately.
- Passenger Management: Work alongside camp counselors on board to maintain a safe, positive, and orderly environment for youth passengers during transit.
- Emergency Readiness: Keep a calm head and follow strict protocols and safety regulations in the event of traffic delays, severe Nebraska weather, or mechanical issues
Required License & Certifications
- CDL Class B: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class B or higher) with a Passenger (P) endorsement and School Bus (S) endorsement.
- Clean Driving Record: A valid driver's license with zero major moving violations or recent at-fault accidents.
Additional Requirements
- Background Clearances: Must successfully pass a criminal background check and sex offender registry screening (required for all staff working with children).
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating large commercial passenger vehicles or school buses is highly preferred.
- Patience & Attitude: Comfort and patience riding with a bus full of energetic, excited summer campers!
Compensation
- Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate based on CDL experience (to be discussed during the interview).
Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
