SUMMARY:
A Project Engineer plays a vital role in overseeing technical aspects of a project. They collaborate with teams to solve project challenges, manage documentation, track project progress, and support scheduling and budgeting efforts. Their focus is on coordinating resources, optimizing workflows, and maintaining effective communication to drive project success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Project Management
a. Review & process for approval all RFI’s
b. Review & process for approval all submittal packages.
c. Update, organize, file all project documents
i. Plan revisions
ii. CO’s, RFI, Submittals
iii. Contracts
iv. Meeting minutes
d. Attend safety walks with Safety Manager
e. Assist PM with close out documentation.
f. Attend and document all client and site meetings.
g. Assist site Superintendent with layout verifications and work meets project requirements.
h. Participate/assist in Kick off meetings
2. Financial Responsibility
a. Monitor project budget and provide updates to PM
b. Ensure proper subcontractor coverage during bidding process.
c. Confirm all sub bids are complete and accurate during bid leveling
d. Assist PM with budget updates to project stakeholders.
e. Process all owner/sub CO’s in a timely manner as directed by PM.
f. Provide PM with accurate pricing for all client requested CO’s.
3. Design/Planning
a. Update PM on design team progress and schedule.
b. Monitor and provide updates on permit submittal process
c. Assist PM with VE pricing options
d. Review/understand all elements of project plans and specifications.
e. Draft RFI’s from field staff and submit to PM for release.
4. Schedule
a. Work with Superintendent to provide regular schedule updates
i. Inform PM of any issues or delays
b. Work with Superintendent and subcontractors to identify/mitigate schedule delays.
c. Confirm with vendors and subcontractors all equipment/materials are delivered per the submittal schedule.
d. Confirm subcontractors provide submittal packages per schedule.
e. Provide schedule updates to stakeholders as directed by PM.
Other duties as assigned:
- Provide subcontractor performance reviews
- Assist PM/SVP with client RFP as requested.
- Promote culture of safety
- Assist PM with design review
- Shadow Superintendent when possible to expand technical knowledge.
- Request letters of recommendation on completed projects.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Business Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a combination of related experience and technical training and/or college degree.
- Office-based role with occasional site visits (Shells 1-2 per week, other jobs based on stage of project).
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, or Spectrum/Teams).
- Knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., Cost Plus, Fixed Price, GMP, Design-Build, etc…).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Must be able to interact with employees on a regular basis and be open to regular interruptions.
· Must be able to sit, stand or walk throughout the day in varying levels.
· Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
· Requires long hours in front of computer screens.
· Must be comfortable with an open workspace environment with ambient office noise.
· May require working beyond regular business hours to address urgent project matters or to accommodate employee schedules.
· Should be prepared to handle high-stress situations while managing multiple priorities effectively.
